Beacon student wins scholarship and participates in University of Chicago program

Our Year 12 student, Lucas N, has been selected by the University of Chicago to participate in the Latin American Phoenix Scholars program. This interdisciplinary research program selects less than 20 students from all over Latin America. The program took place on the university campus in July. Lucas received a full scholarship from the university to attend the program, while the costs related to his passport and visa were covered by the Beacon Institute.

High school seniors currently attending schools in Latin America are invited to apply for the one-week program, which includes interdisciplinary classes with professors and visits to the research facilities at the University of Chicago. Some activities showcase the city of Chicago and allow students to explore the academic and professional opportunities of a major international urban center.

About the Institute

Beacon is committed to developing and promoting affirmative practices in favor of racial and social equity, thus contributing to the development of open-minded students and a diverse and inclusive community, where students, teachers, staff and families feel safe with a strong sense of belonging to our school Community.
