One of the pillars of Beacon School is the understanding that the participation of families in the school routine of the children stimulates their socio-affective development. A school that celebrates this value in its pedagogical project needs to think about the practice of special dates, such as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.
Beacon values the family role in the children’s lives and believes in the importance of children and adults to appreciate warmth and togetherness for a precious time of interaction, surrounded by loving care and playfulness. We understand that these are private celebrations within the scope of the family.
Considering family as a foundation, and to preserve values such as diversity and interaction, Beacon open its doors to Family Day, a celebration that focuses on the children, respecting the different family constitutions in the modern society. Therefore, we invite children and their loved ones to live special moments.
Children from Early Childhood Education were able to participate in precious activities with their loved ones, according to their age range (2 to 6 year-olds), as follows:
G2: Picture frames decoration, clay modeling, interferences in bubble wrap and a make-believe game with the song “Peixinhos do Mar”.
G3: Singing songs in English and Portuguese, plantation of herbs, make-believe game at “Poff’s Castle” and watercolor painting at the Atelier.
G4: Playing with parachutes and color balls, T-shirt drawing, creation of new versions for the song “O Samba de Maria Luiza” and playing with the song “Walking in the Jungle”.
G5: Origami workshop, playing with soap bubbles, tile wall painting, obstacle course and construction with giant blocks.
G6: Science experiment, playing with upper and lower case letters, treasure hunt in the sandpit, painting with natural paints, giant memory game and dodge ball.
