Beacon recognizes and values differences as opportunities for learning and enrichment of the educational process. The focus is on the comprehensive development of the individual, with embracing diversity considered a core value for promoting citizenship. It is an inclusive school that faces the daily challenge of ensuring that all students are respected and their uniqueness is welcomed for their full development. Various initiatives aim to broaden our students' horizons, expand their worldview, and foster the development of open-minded individuals.
Having respectful attitudes and being attentive to others are essential elements for ethical coexistence in the school. Learning is enhanced in safe, healthy and kind environments, free from prejudice, fear, or intimidation. In order to provide for everyone and maintain an individualized approach to each student and each family, the school relies on the Student Well-Being Center (SWBC). This area is responsible for handling issues related to the school environment, whether they are of a socio-emotional nature, conflict mediation, pedagogical support, or assistance in acquiring the English language through the English Support Program and inclusive practices.
The Educational Technology curriculum is based on three pillars: Digital Literacy, focused on the proficient use of programs and applications; Digital Citizenship, aimed at the ethical and responsible use of technologies; and Computational Thinking, an element included in the national curriculum guidelines. Classes in the Design Lab facilitate the use of different technologies in creative, problem-solving processes. Students have access to both analog and digital tools for project development, many of which are presented to the school community at the Steam Fair.
The learning provided within the school environment is complemented by experiences designed to broaden students' horizons and deepen their understanding of the reality around them. The Expanding Horizons Program encompasses a range of national and international trips that help shape open-minded citizens, fostering empathy and sensitivity to the issues of the society they belong to. These experiences offer comprehensive and transformative opportunities. Through cultural and educational learning and interdisciplinary proposals, the program promotes integration among students and the development of autonomy. By engaging in the trips offered by the school, students also expand their repertoire, strengthening their applications for universities.
The University and Career Counseling (UCC) area at Beacon assists High School students in their process of self-knowledge and provides the necessary support so that they can make their career and higher education choices in an informed manner, with autonomy and responsibility.
